Drug intelligence / Profile preview
preS hepatitis B surface antigen + Advax-3 (Hepadvax) is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd for the prevention and treatment of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The vaccine incorporates a large surface protein containing the preS1, preS2, and S domains, which provides a broader range of B- and T-cell epitopes compared to conventional S-only vaccines. It is formulated with Advax-3, a proprietary adjuvant system that combines delta-inulin (a plant-derived polysaccharide) with a CpG oligonucleotide (a Toll-like receptor 9 agonist). This combination is intended to enhance both humoral and cellular immune responses, potentially overcoming the lack of response seen in some individuals with standard HBV vaccines and providing a therapeutic effect in chronic HBV carriers.
