Overview

The combination of probiotic CNCM I-4035 (*Bifidobacterium breve*) and probiotic CNCM I-4036 (*Lactobacillus rhamnosus*) consists of two bacterial strains originally isolated from the feces of exclusively breast-fed infants and deposited in the Collection Nationale de Cultures de Microorganismes (CNCM) at the Institute Pasteur. This combination is primarily investigated for its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its potential in modulating gut microbiota, influencing macrophage polarization, and reducing systemic inflammatory markers such as serum lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels. It has been specifically evaluated for conditions like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), hepatic steatosis, and obesity-related inflammation. Clinical safety and tolerance have been established in healthy volunteers, often as part of a three-strain probiotic mixture that includes *Lactobacillus paracasei* CNCM I-4034.
