Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Propolis + polyethylene glycol is a dental paste formulation developed for use as a pulpotomy agent in the treatment of dental pulp disease, specifically in primary molars. Propolis is a natural resinous substance collected by honeybees, containing a complex mixture of flavonoids, phenolic acids, and esters that exhibit potent antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. In this formulation, 100% standardized propolis extract is mixed with polyethylene glycol to create a consistency suitable for application to pulp stumps. The treatment aims to maintain pulp vitality, promote the formation of a dentin bridge, and reduce postoperative pain, serving as a natural alternative to conventional materials like Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA).
