Overview

Propranolol + Etizolam is a fixed-dose combination therapy marketed by Brainwave Healthcare for the management of anxiety disorders, particularly situational anxiety and conditions characterized by physiological symptoms of autonomic arousal. Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist that reduces peripheral symptoms such as tachycardia, tremors, and sweating by blocking the effects of epinephrine and norepinephrine on beta receptors. Etizolam is a thienodiazepine derivative that acts as a positive allosteric modulator at the benzodiazepine binding site of the GABA-A receptor, enhancing the inhibitory effects of GABA to provide central anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle relaxant properties. This combination is widely used in India to provide both central and peripheral relief from anxiety symptoms.
