propranolol + flunarizine

Propranolol + flunarizine is an investigational combination of two established small-molecule drugs used for migraine prophylaxis. Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker (beta-blocker) that reduces the frequency of migraine attacks by antagonizing beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors. Flunarizine is a selective calcium channel blocker that prevents cellular calcium overload. This combination therapy is investigated to improve treatment effectiveness in patients who do not respond adequately to monotherapy by targeting multiple pathways implicated in migraine pathophysiology. It has been evaluated in clinical research, including an open-label, parallel-arm, randomized controlled trial conducted by Chittagong Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh.
