Prothrombin complex concentrate (virus-inactivated) is a plasma-derived coagulation factor concentrate currently in preclinical development by the Republican Research and Practical Center of Transfusion and Medical Biotechnologies in Belarus. This therapeutic biologic contains a concentrated mixture of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, specifically Factor II (prothrombin), Factor VII, Factor IX, and Factor X. It is designed to restore normal hemostasis in patients suffering from coagulation factor deficiencies, such as hemophilia or other bleeding disorders. The manufacturing process incorporates virus inactivation steps to ensure the safety and purity of the human plasma-derived product. As a replacement therapy, it provides the necessary components of the coagulation cascade that are missing or dysfunctional in the patient's blood.
