Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Protollin (BDX100) is an intranasal plague vaccine candidate that utilizes a proteosome-based adjuvant platform to deliver antigens from *Yersinia pestis*. Originally developed by ID Biomedical and now part of the Inspirevax pipeline, the vaccine is designed to stimulate both mucosal IgA and systemic IgG responses, providing a dual layer of protection against pneumonic and bubonic plague. The proteosome adjuvant consists of outer membrane proteins from *Neisseria meningitidis* non-covalently complexed with bacterial lipopolysaccharides, which acts as a potent mucosal adjuvant to enhance the immune response to the vaccine's antigens. Although preclinical studies demonstrated its immunogenicity, the development program is currently paused and available for sub-licensing.
