Pru-Decorp MG is a combination small molecule drug developed by Scott Edil Pharmacia Ltd in collaboration with India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS). It contains Prussian blue insoluble and magnesium hydroxide as active ingredients and is formulated as oral capsules. Approved by India's CDSCO in 2023, the drug is indicated for the treatment of radioactive cesium poisoning and thallium poisoning, specifically targeting rescue responders or individuals entering contaminated zones. Prussian blue acts as an ion-exchange resin that binds cesium and thallium in the gastrointestinal tract, preventing their systemic absorption and promoting excretion. Magnesium hydroxide is included to act as an osmotic laxative, counteracting the constipation typically caused by Prussian blue and accelerating the transit of the bound radioactive or toxic isotopes through the gut.
