This experimental HIV vaccine regimen, developed by Ichor Medical Systems in collaboration with the University of Oxford, utilizes a heterologous prime-boost strategy. The regimen consists of a DNA vaccine (pSG2.HIVconsv) encoding highly conserved regions of the HIV-1 proteome, delivered via Ichor's TriGrid electroporation system to enhance cellular uptake and immunogenicity. This is followed by viral vector boosts using Ad35-GRIN (adenovirus 35) and MVA.HIVconsv (Modified Vaccinia Ankara). By targeting conserved regions of the virus that are less prone to mutation, the vaccine aims to elicit broad and potent T-cell immune responses. The TriGrid system is an integrated, automated device designed to improve the potency of DNA vaccines compared to conventional intramuscular injection by using electrical pulses to facilitate the entry of DNA into cells.
