**Psilocybin** is a naturally occurring phosphorylated tryptamine psychedelic and prodrug that is converted in vivo to psilocin. Psilocin principally acts as a partial agonist at the serotonin 2A receptor, producing the psychedelic effects used in psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy. In the University of Utah PAPR study, a single 25 mg psilocybin administration session was evaluated with group preparatory and integration psychotherapy plus an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction curriculum in frontline healthcare providers with COVID-19-related symptoms of depression and burnout.
