Overview

A combination of psilocybin and midazolam being investigated to understand the role of conscious experience and memory in the therapeutic effects of psychedelics. Psilocybin produces psychedelic effects while midazolam induces amnesia while allowing the conscious experience to occur. This combination enables researchers to determine whether memory of the psychedelic experience is necessary for psilocybin's therapeutic effects, particularly its antidepressant properties.
