This investigational PSMA-targeted CAR-T cell therapy is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy developed by The Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specifically designed to recognize and bind to Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), a protein that is highly and consistently expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. Upon binding to PSMA, the CAR-T cells are activated, leading to the targeted destruction of the malignant cells through T-cell mediated cytotoxicity. This therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients who have failed prior standard therapies.
