Overview

Isabgol (specifically the formulation marketed as Isabgul Plus by Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd.) is a herbal combination product used for the management of various gastrointestinal conditions. It contains psyllium husk (*Plantago ovata*), which functions as a bulk-forming laxative by absorbing water to increase stool volume and facilitate transit, and senna leaf (*Cassia angustifolia*), a stimulant laxative that promotes bowel movement by acting on the enteric nervous system and inhibiting water absorption in the large intestine. The product is indicated for chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, and hemorrhoids. It is available as an effervescent powder or sachet for oral administration and is registered with the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) in Bangladesh.
