Overview

**Pt(NH3)2(DMC)** is an experimental demethylcantharidin-integrated platinum(II) anticancer complex comprising two ammine ligands and a demethylcantharidin ligand. It was designed as a carboplatin-like platinum agent with a proposed dual cytotoxic mechanism: platinum-mediated formation of DNA lesions and release of the demethylcantharidin ligand, which contributes additional DNA damage and necrotic cell death. In vitro studies in HCT116 colorectal cancer cells found greater DNA damage and a higher necrotic-cell population than with carboplatin, supporting activity attributable to the DMC component. The compound is a preclinical research-stage antineoplastic candidate and has no identified marketed formulation or assigned INN.
