Overview

PvCS N+C is a synthetic peptide vaccine candidate developed by the Malaria Vaccine and Drug Development Center (MVDC) for the prevention of malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax. The vaccine is derived from the circumsporozoite protein (CSP), which is the dominant surface antigen of the sporozoite stage of the malaria parasite. It specifically targets the N-terminal and C-terminal regions of the PvCSP. In clinical trials, it has been evaluated both alone and in combination with repeat regions (PvCS N+C+R), typically formulated with the adjuvant Montanide ISA-51 to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine aims to induce protective antibodies and cellular immune responses to prevent the parasite from infecting liver cells.
