Pvs230D1-EPA + Matrix-M is a transmission-blocking vaccine candidate for Plasmodium vivax malaria. It consists of Pvs230 domain 1 (Pvs230D1), a recombinant protein from subdomain 1 of native Pvs230 (Val-226 to Gly-427) produced in Pichia pastoris, chemically conjugated to Exoprotein A (EPA) and combined with Matrix-M adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to induce antibodies that can block the transmission of malaria parasites from humans to mosquitoes, thereby interrupting the malaria transmission cycle. It is being developed by the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
