Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qiangli Pipagao (Strong Loquat Paste) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal preparation developed and manufactured by Jiangxi Tengwangge Pharmaceutical. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) remedy indicated for the relief of respiratory symptoms, particularly coughs associated with bronchitis and sore throats. The formulation is a honey-refined (Milian) thick paste or syrup composed of several active botanical ingredients, including loquat leaf (*Eriobotrya japonica*), poppy husk (*Papaveris pericarpium*), stemona root, cynanchum, mulberry bark, platycodon, and menthol. Its pharmacological action is characterized by antitussive and expectorant properties; traditionally, it is described as nourishing lung yin, astringing the lung to stop coughing, and eliminating phlegm. The inclusion of poppy husk provides a potent cough suppressant effect via opioid receptor pathways. It is a nationally exclusive variety in China and is included in the National Medical Insurance catalog.
