Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Qishen'gubiao Granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation composed of nine herbs. It has been widely used for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and chronic heart failure (CHF). The granules are prepared by water extraction followed by alcohol sedimentation, resulting in a botanical drug formulation. Clinical studies have shown that Qishen'gubiao Granules can improve cardiac function in CHF patients by reducing N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels, improving New York Heart Association functional classification, increasing 6-minute walking distance, and enhancing quality of life measures. For COVID-19, network pharmacology and molecular docking studies suggest that active compounds such as quercetin, apigenin, scutellarein, luteolin, and naringenin target key proteins including angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 and 3-chymotrypsin-like protease to modulate immune and inflammatory pathways. The product is manufactured as granules with lactose excipient for oral administration.
