qNIV + Matrix-M1 is a combination vaccine consisting of a recombinant hemagglutinin (HA) nanoparticle-based quadrivalent influenza vaccine (qNIV) formulated with Matrix-M1, a saponin-based adjuvant derived from Quillaja saponaria. The qNIV component includes purified recombinant HA proteins from four distinct influenza strains (two influenza A and two influenza B). Matrix-M1 consists of saponin fractions mixed with cholesterol and phospholipids to form nanoparticles that enhance immune responses. This combination is designed to improve both humoral (antibody) and cellular immune responses, particularly in older adults, as compared to traditional egg-based or unadjuvanted influenza vaccines. Matrix-M1 adjuvantation enhances both the magnitude and breadth of antibody responses, increases multifunctional CD4+ T-cell counts, and biases the immune response towards Th1-type cellular immunity. The primary indication is prevention of seasonal influenza in adults, especially those aged 65 or older[1][2][3].
