QRu + resveratrol (specifically formulated as QRu-PLGA-RES-DS NPs) is an experimental core-shell nanocomposite designed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The system utilizes quadrilateral ruthenium nanoparticles (QRuNPs) as a photothermal core, encapsulated within a thermosensitive shell of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) modified with dextran sulfate (DS) for targeted delivery. The nanocarrier improves the water solubility and delivery of resveratrol (RES). Its primary therapeutic mechanism involves inducing the polarization of pro-inflammatory M1-type macrophages into anti-inflammatory M2-type macrophages, thereby eliminating the inflammatory response in RA. Additionally, the QRu nanoparticles enable photoacoustic (PA) imaging for real-time monitoring of drug distribution in inflammatory tissues.
