Quadracel (Sanofi)

Quadracel is a combination vaccine developed by Sanofi for the active immunization of children aged 4 through 6 years against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and poliomyelitis. It is formulated as a sterile suspension for intramuscular injection, containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (including detoxified pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae types 2 and 3), and inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. Quadracel is specifically indicated as the fifth dose in the DTaP vaccination series and the fourth or fifth dose in the IPV series. FDA-approved in 2015, the vaccine simplifies the preschool immunization schedule by reducing the number of injections required to protect against these four diseases.
