Overview

The Quadrivalent Influenza Virus Split Vaccine (QIV) is an inactivated, split-virion vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS) in collaboration with Peking Union Medical College. It is designed to prevent seasonal influenza in individuals aged 3 years and older. The vaccine formulation includes purified surface antigens from four influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). By inducing the production of hemagglutination inhibition (HI) antibodies, the vaccine provides protection against the circulating strains of the virus. Clinical development has reached Phase III trials, evaluating safety and immunogenicity through measures such as seroconversion rates and geometric mean titers.
