Overview

The quadrivalent influenza virus split vaccine (pediatric) is an inactivated, split-virion vaccine developed by Jiangsu GDK Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (GDK Bio) for the prevention of seasonal influenza in children. This pediatric formulation contains 60 μg of total hemagglutinin (HA) antigen, with 15 μg allocated to each of the four included strains: two influenza A subtypes (A/H1N1 and A/H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (B/Victoria and B/Yamagata). The vaccine is produced using egg-based cultivation technology, followed by inactivation and splitting of the virus particles. It is designed to elicit protective antibody responses against the hemagglutinin proteins of the circulating influenza viruses. As of early 2021, the pediatric formulation was in Phase 1 clinical development, following the commercial launch of GDK Bio's adult quadrivalent influenza vaccine in 2019.
