Overview

The quadrivalent influenza virus subunit vaccine developed by Jiangsu Ab&B Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is a biologic vaccine designed for the prevention of seasonal influenza. It is a subunit formulation containing purified hemagglutinin antigens from four influenza virus strains: A/H1N1 (California/7/2009), A/H3N2 (Switzerland/9715293/2013), B/Yamagata (Phuket/3073/2013), and B/Victoria (Brisbane/60/2008). Unlike split-virion vaccines, subunit vaccines contain only the surface antigens (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase), which typically results in a higher purity profile and reduced reactogenicity, making it particularly suitable for pediatric populations. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection. In China, the version for individuals aged 3 years and older was approved in May 2023, while a pediatric version for children aged 6 to 35 months has completed Phase III clinical trials and is under regulatory review.
