Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an investigational quadrivalent recombinant influenza vaccine (RIV) developed by Sanofi Pasteur. Unlike traditional egg-based vaccines, it is produced using a baculovirus expression system to manufacture purified recombinant hemagglutinin (HA) proteins. This specific formulation is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to test different H3 hemagglutinin antigens and the inclusion of an adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity, particularly against drifted H3N2 strains. It is designed to provide protection against four influenza strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). The vaccine platform is related to the marketed Flublok Quadrivalent but represents a distinct investigational formulation with modified components.
