Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The 4-valent influenza vaccine (split) is a quadrivalent split-virion vaccine candidate being developed by Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products (Shenzhen Kangde) for the prevention of seasonal influenza. As a quadrivalent vaccine, it is designed to provide broader protection than traditional trivalent vaccines by including antigens from four different influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (typically H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (typically Victoria and Yamagata). The split-virion technology involves disrupting the virus with detergents to expose internal and surface antigens, which generally results in a vaccine that is highly immunogenic while maintaining a favorable safety profile. The candidate is currently in the preclinical/R&D stage of development.
