The rationale for combining these agents stems from research suggesting that vitamins D and E may mitigate some adverse effects associated with atypical antipsychotics like quetiapine—particularly metabolic side effects such as hyperglycemia or tardive dyskinesia. Vitamin D appears to counteract quetiapine-induced insulin resistance by preventing downregulation of PI3K signaling, while vitamin E’s antioxidant properties may help reduce oxidative stress-related side effects[2][3][5][6][7].
