Overview

Quinapril + amlodipine is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Quinapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that works by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, thereby relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure[2][3][4][6]. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading primarily to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance[5][8]. The combination provides complementary mechanisms for lowering blood pressure and may be used when monotherapy with either agent does not achieve adequate control. Both drugs are also indicated for other cardiovascular conditions such as heart failure (quinapril) and angina (amlodipine)[2][3][4][5].
