10RAC + acetylcysteine is a 10-day combination regimen investigated as a second-line (re-eradication) therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection. The regimen consists of a standard triple therapy (10RAC) comprising the proton pump inhibitor rabeprazole (20 mg twice daily) and the antibiotics amoxicillin (1 g twice daily) and clarithromycin (500 mg twice daily), supplemented with the mucolytic and antioxidant agent N-acetylcysteine (600 mg twice daily). N-acetylcysteine is hypothesized to disrupt H. pylori biofilms and reduce gastric mucus viscosity, thereby enhancing the penetration and efficacy of the co-administered antibiotics. This investigational combination was evaluated in a randomized, open-label clinical trial (NCT01572597) sponsored by Buddhist Tzu Chi General Hospital in Taiwan, targeting adult patients who failed prior eradication attempts.
