Modified non-clarithromycin triple therapy is an oral combination regimen consisting of the proton pump inhibitor rabeprazole, the beta-lactam antibiotic amoxicillin, and the nitroimidazole antibiotic tinidazole. Developed by researchers at Shandong University (Qilu Hospital), this 14-day regimen was designed as an alternative to standard clarithromycin-based triple therapy to address the challenge of increasing clarithromycin resistance in Helicobacter pylori infections. The regimen typically involves rabeprazole (10 mg twice daily), amoxicillin (1 g three times daily), and tinidazole (500 mg three times daily). It has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials (e.g., NCT02776371) for the eradication of H. pylori in treatment-naive patients.
