Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Berirab P is a human rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG) preparation used for passive immunization against rabies. It is administered as part of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) following potential exposure to the rabies virus, such as through animal bites. The product contains high titers of neutralizing antibodies (IgG) derived from the plasma of donors immunized with rabies vaccine. These antibodies provide immediate, short-term protection by neutralizing the virus at the site of entry before the patient's own immune system can produce antibodies in response to active vaccination. Berirab P is specifically a pasteurized formulation, ensuring viral safety through heat treatment. It is typically administered via infiltration around the wound site and intramuscular injection.
