This combination drug consists of a fully human anti-rabies monoclonal antibody, CBB1, used in conjunction with a Vero cell-derived rabies vaccine. CBB1 provides immediate passive immunization by neutralizing rabies virus at the time of administration, while the Vero cell rabies vaccine induces an active, adaptive immune response through virus-specific immunity. The aim is to provide both short-term and long-term protection after exposure to rabies, such as animal bites or scratches. The monoclonal antibody binds to the rabies virus glycoprotein, preventing cell entry, and the vaccine promotes the body’s own antibody production against the virus. This combination is being developed to replace older polyclonal rabies immunoglobulins and to optimize efficacy and accessibility for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis in humans[1][3][4].
