Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lyophilized Human Rabies Vaccine (Chicken Embryo Cells) is an inactivated viral vaccine developed by Weiguang Biological Products for the prevention of rabies in humans. The vaccine is produced by cultivating the rabies virus in primary chicken embryo cell cultures, followed by inactivation (typically with beta-propiolactone) and purification. The final product is freeze-dried (lyophilized) to ensure long-term stability and is reconstituted before administration. It is indicated for both pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure treatment. Upon administration, the vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce specific neutralizing antibodies that provide active immunity against the rabies virus, a neurotropic virus that causes fatal encephalitis.
