The rabies inactivated vaccine (CTN-1 strain) is a viral vaccine developed by Tangshan Yian Biological Engineering for the prevention of rabies infection. It utilizes the CTN-1 strain of the rabies virus, a human-derived isolate that is widely used in China for vaccine production. The vaccine is typically produced by propagating the virus in Vero cell cultures, followed by inactivation (killing) with agents such as beta-propiolactone to ensure the virus cannot replicate while maintaining its immunogenicity. Upon intramuscular administration, the vaccine stimulates the host's immune system to produce specific neutralizing antibodies against the rabies virus glycoprotein. It is indicated for both pre-exposure immunization and post-exposure prophylaxis in individuals at risk of rabies exposure.
