Overview

Rabies virus inactivated antigen, B is a biologic component used as the active ingredient in certain rabies vaccines for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies. It consists of an inactivated form of the fixed Wistar strain PM-1503-3M of the rabies virus. The viral particles are grown in human diploid cell cultures (such as MRC-5 cells), harvested, concentrated by ultrafiltration, and then chemically inactivated using beta-propiolactone. The resulting product is formulated as a sterile freeze-dried suspension for intramuscular administration. Its mechanism of action involves stimulating active immunity by inducing neutralizing antibodies against the rabies virus[1][2][3][8]. The primary indication is prevention of clinical rabies following exposure or for individuals at risk due to occupational or travel-related reasons.
