Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This multimodal treatment regimen is being evaluated for the management of newly diagnosed glioblastoma. It combines Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT), delivered via Monteris Medical's NeuroBlate System, with the established standard-of-care chemoradiation protocol. The NeuroBlate System is an MRI-guided, robotically-controlled laser ablation tool that allows for the minimally invasive destruction of brain tumor tissue through thermal energy. Following the LITT procedure, patients receive standard-of-care radiation therapy and temozolomide, an oral alkylating chemotherapy agent. This combination is currently being studied in the FLAG clinical trial to determine if the addition of minimally invasive thermal ablation to standard chemoradiation improves clinical outcomes and survival for patients with aggressive primary brain tumors.
