Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Radspherin** is an intraperitoneally administered, receptor-independent alpha-emitting radiopharmaceutical developed by Oncoinvent for localized treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis and residual peritoneal micrometastases. It consists of biodegradable calcium carbonate microparticles bearing radium-224, an alpha-emitting radionuclide with a physical half-life of approximately 3.6 days. Following administration into the peritoneal cavity, the microparticles distribute and retain the radionuclide locally, enabling short-range alpha radiation to induce highly cytotoxic, difficult-to-repair DNA double-strand breaks in free-floating tumor cells and peritoneal micrometastases while limiting exposure of deeper surrounding tissues. Clinical development includes colorectal cancer-associated peritoneal metastases and advanced epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancers.
