Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Raloxifene + cholecalciferol is a fixed-dose combination of two agents used primarily in the management of bone health in postmenopausal women. Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that acts as an estrogen agonist on bone and lipid metabolism, helping to prevent and treat osteoporosis by reducing bone resorption and increasing or maintaining bone mineral density. It also acts as an antagonist on breast and uterine tissue, thereby lowering the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or at high risk[1][4][6]. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is essential for calcium absorption and bone mineralization. The combination has been shown to significantly improve lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) compared to cholecalciferol alone, with no clinically relevant pharmacokinetic interactions between the two components[2][8]. This combination targets postmenopausal osteopenia/osteoporosis but may also be considered for broader indications related to vitamin D deficiency.
