Overview
Ramipril + amlodipine is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that relaxes and widens blood vessels by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, thereby lowering blood pressure. The combination provides additive or synergistic effects in reducing blood pressure, improving cardiovascular outcomes, and preventing complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure in patients with high cardiovascular risk[1][2][4][5]. This therapy is indicated for adults with hypertension who may not achieve adequate control with monotherapy.
