Overview
A combination antiemetic therapy consisting of ramosetron (a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist) and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid). This combination is primarily used for the prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Ramosetron has a higher receptor affinity and longer duration of action than other 5-HT3 antagonists, while dexamethasone enhances the antiemetic effect through its anti-inflammatory properties. The combination has shown superior efficacy compared to either agent alone in preventing PONV, particularly in high-risk surgical patients.
