Overview

Ranibizumab + bromfenac is a combination therapy used in ophthalmology, particularly for the treatment of ocular diseases characterized by abnormal blood vessel growth and inflammation, such as neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema. Ranibizumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody fragment that binds to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting its interaction with VEGF receptors on endothelial cells, thereby reducing angiogenesis and vascular leakage. Bromfenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzymes, blocking prostaglandin synthesis to reduce ocular inflammation. Clinical studies suggest that adjunctive use of topical bromfenac with intravitreal ranibizumab may reduce the frequency of required injections and enhance anatomical outcomes in patients[1][4][5][6].
