Overview

**ranibizumab + faricimab** refers to a combination of two monoclonal antibody drugs used intravitreally for retinal vascular diseases. Ranibizumab is an anti-VEGF-A monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A, reducing abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the retina. Faricimab is a humanized bispecific monoclonal antibody targeting both VEGF-A and Angiopoietin-2; it blocks two critical pathways in the pathogenesis of macular diseases, improving outcomes and potentially reducing treatment frequency. Both drugs are developed for ocular indications including neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME), and have shown comparable efficacy in clinical trials when used alone. Combining these agents (although not standard practice or currently an approved fixed-dose combination) could hypothetically offer additive or synergistic inhibition of both VEGF-A and Angiopoietin-2 signaling, maximizing retinal vascular stabilization and anti-permeability effects[1][2][3].
