Overview

Ranibizumab + iCo-007 is a combination of two investigational and approved agents for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME). Ranibizumab is a recombinant, humanized monoclonal antibody fragment that binds to and inhibits all isoforms of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), thereby preventing abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye. It is approved for several retinal diseases, including DME. iCo-007 is a second-generation antisense oligonucleotide that targets C-Raf kinase mRNA, downregulating its expression and thereby inhibiting multiple growth factors involved in angiogenesis and vascular permeability, such as VEGF, IGF-1, and HGF. The combination has been studied in clinical trials to assess safety and efficacy in DME patients[3][5][4].
