Ranibizumab + sozinibercept is an investigational combination therapy for retinal vascular diseases, notably neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). Ranibizumab is a monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), while sozinibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that blocks VEGF-C and VEGF-D. By targeting multiple members of the VEGF family, this combination aims to provide more comprehensive inhibition of abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the retina. Clinical trials have shown that adding sozinibercept to ranibizumab improves visual acuity outcomes compared to ranibizumab alone, with additional anatomical benefits such as reduced retinal swelling and choroidal neovascularization area. The combination has demonstrated a favorable safety profile in studies to date[3][5][6][7][8].
