ranitidine + pantoprazole

Ranitidine + pantoprazole is a combination of two acid-suppressing drugs used in rare, severe cases of gastric acid-related disorders. Ranitidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that reduces stomach acid secretion by blocking histamine action on parietal cells. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly inhibits the H+,K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, leading to profound and prolonged reduction in gastric acid production. This combination may be considered for patients with refractory or severe ulcers, erosive esophagitis, or nocturnal acid breakthrough when monotherapy is insufficient[1][2][5]. However, clinical evidence supporting routine use of this combination over single-agent therapy is limited.
