Overview

rDer f1 + rDer f2 is a combination of two recombinant major allergens, Der f 1 and Der f 2, from the house dust mite Dermatophagoides farinae. These proteins are commonly used as components in allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) and for allergy testing, targeting IgE-mediated allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. Both antigens are highly recognized by IgE antibodies in house dust mite–sensitized patients and play a central role in the pathophysiology of mite-induced allergic sensitization. Their use as recombinant proteins allows for precise dosing and standardization in research, diagnostics, and (potentially investigational) immunotherapeutic purposes. The mechanism of action in immunotherapy involves induction of immune tolerance—likely through modulation of T helper cell responses, induction of blocking antibodies (IgG4), and reduction of specific IgE-mediated reactivity to these allergens[2][1][5].
