Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rdESAT-6 + rCFP-10 is a recombinant fusion protein skin test reagent used for the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection. It contains two proteins from the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacterium - recombinant dimeric ESAT-6 (rdESAT-6) and recombinant CFP-10 (rCFP-10) in a 1:1 ratio. This diagnostic tool offers enhanced specificity over traditional tuberculin skin tests, particularly in BCG-vaccinated individuals. The test is administered intradermally using the Mantoux technique, with results read by measuring induration at the injection site after 48-72 hours. An induration size over 5 millimeters indicates infection with M. tuberculosis.
