Overview

Rebamipide + omeprazole is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the treatment and healing of gastric ulcers, gastritis, and other acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. Rebamipide is a gastroprotective agent that promotes mucosal protection by increasing mucus production, reducing inflammation, scavenging free radicals, promoting angiogenesis in the gastric mucosa, and enhancing the expression of protective genes such as vascular endothelial growth factor and epidermal growth factor receptor. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that decreases stomach acid production by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the surface of gastric parietal cells. The combination may be used to promote ulcer healing after procedures like endoscopic submucosal dissection or following Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy. Both drugs are effective in promoting ulcer healing; their mechanisms are complementary—rebamipide protects and repairs mucosa while omeprazole suppresses acid secretion[1][2][3][4][5][6].
