Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recipe of Removing Phlegm and Blood Stasis (also known as the Tan-Yu treatment or Qutan Huayu recipe) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically designed to treat resistant hypertension (RH) by addressing the TCM pathological patterns of phlegm-dampness and blood stasis. In clinical study settings, the recipe is administered as an oral decoction, typically 180ml twice daily, as an adjunct to standard-of-care antihypertensive medications including thiazide diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and beta-blockers. The formulation aims to provide additional blood pressure reduction and improve clinical outcomes in patients whose hypertension remains uncontrolled despite intensive conventional therapy.
