Drug intelligence / Profile preview
recMAGE-A3 + AS15 ASCI is an investigational antigen-specific cancer immunotherapeutic (ASCI) consisting of a recombinant MAGE-A3 protein combined with the AS15 adjuvant system. AS15 is a proprietary adjuvant system containing CpG 7909, monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL), and QS-21. The therapy is designed to induce a specific immune response against tumor cells expressing the Melanoma-Associated Antigen A3 (MAGE-A3), a tumor-associated antigen frequently expressed in various malignancies, including bladder cancer. It was evaluated as an adjuvant treatment in patients with MAGE-A3 positive muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) who had undergone radical cystectomy to prevent disease recurrence. The development of the MAGE-A3 ASCI program was largely halted by GSK following the failure of Phase III trials in melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer.
